The Tidewater Rehabilitation & Environmental Education (TREE) Board of Directors plays a pivotal role in steering our non-profit organization toward its mission of wildlife rehabilitation and environmental education. Comprising dedicated individuals with diverse expertise, the board provides strategic guidance, oversees organizational policies, and ensures financial stewardship. Lisa Barlow, LVT
President, Founder
A lifelong resident of Virginia Beach, Lisa is a retired Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT) who has been working with wildlife for over 30 years. She founded Tidewater Rehabilitation and Environmental Education in 2017 has guided the organization ever since. Lisa holds an Associates in Veterinary Technology from Blue Ridge Community College.
April Threet
Vice President
April has had a life long love for animal advocacy and works as a member of the Animal Services Bureau for Virginia Beach caring for the city’s most vulnerable pet animals. Before that, she worked at the Virginia Aquarium & marine Science Center for six years.
Laura Stoy
Secretary, Treasurer
Laura Stoy works as a Senior Accountant in Chesapeake. She brings nearly 40 years of office administration and accounting experience to TREE in her role as Treasurer and Secretary for the organization since 2017. Laura holds a Associates in Office Systems Technology from Tidewater Community College.
Hank Anderson
Board Member
Hank is a US Navy Veteran who moved to the Tidewater area in 2020 where they now work with various government agencies and companies to develop training content. Their love for birds and the wild led them to volunteer with TREE starting in 2021. Hank holds an Associates in Liberal Arts from Excelsior University.
Tammy Conklin
Board member
Tammy moved to the Tidewater area in 1994. She caught the birding bug from an undergraduate ornithology class and has become an avid birder in the Tidewater area. After completing a Master’s Degree in Biology from Old Dominion University, she worked as a zookeeper for almost 15 years. She became involved with Wildlife Rehabilitation in 2018 and began volunteering with TREE in 2021.
